RAVEN
Raven detects and responds to live emergencies by analyzing traffic feeds, public alerts, and user recordings in real time.
what they built
Raven is an emergency detection and response platform that turns ordinary video into an early-warning system. It watches camera feeds, including live Georgia DOT traffic cameras, for falls, fights, fire and smoke, and people who have gone down. Motion detection runs in the browser, and a Google Gemini vision model confirms each event. An incident is raised only when 2 of the last 3 checks agree, which keeps false alarms down. Members of the public can also file a report with a short video, a note and their location, and a status page shows them when help is confirmed. Operators see every incident on one dashboard with a snapshot, severity, confidence and the nearest ambulance, police or fire station. They confirm, add responders or dismiss as a false alarm, so a human always makes the final call. Dispatch is simulated, so Raven finds real stations nearby but never contacts anyone. It stores no raw video, only the snapshot attached to an incident, so the demo stays privacy-friendly while showing how much faster the path from "something happened" to "help is on the way" could be.
