what they built

Stella helps clinic billing staff fight insurance claim denials. It reads remittance files or PDF EOBs, checks each denial against payer policies and clinical notes, and routes it to a next step: appeal, resubmit, gather docs, bill patient, or write off. The queue is ranked by dollars at stake, deadline, and win odds. Staff see the quoted evidence and a draft appeal letter, and a human approves every letter before it goes out. We built it with Python/FastAPI and payer rules as YAML. Optional local AI (Ollama) means no data leaves the machine, and every AI quote is checked against the source note. All data is synthetic. Devin wrote the app PR by PR, along with 60 tests and the eval harness. Triage scored 100% on our 30 labeled cases. We steered the design and product; Devin shipped it.
